This watercolor painting, The Opening, was inspired by a verse from Rumi, which is quoted on my Inspirations page. It is, "There are no edges to my loving now. You've heard it said there's a window that opens from one mind to another, but if there's no wall, there's no need for fitting the window, or the latch." -Rumi, translation by Coleman Barks

This is the image that I have used on my business card for years. She was a model for a life drawing class in college. I loved the way that her arm draped over the chair as her fingers lightly gripped it. There was both relaxation and tension in her pose. As an image, it makes you wonder... what was she turning to see? You may also view this painting on my Inspirations page, where I pair it with a close-up of her eye. (Or what I imagine to be her eye).
